Hengqin Port and Integrated Transportation Hub Project

            Construction background and functional zoning

The Lotus Boundary Control Point of the Macao SAR and the Hengqin Boundary Control Point of Zhuhai, which are situated across the river from each
other, originally adopted the traditional mode of "two places, two inspections", which is time-consuming and inconvenient. With the continuous growth of
clearance volume, the old control point can no longer meet the needs of the increasingly close people-to-people exchanges and economic and trade
activities between the two places in the context of the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
In order to enhance the infrastructure connectivity between the two places, facilitate the convenient flow of people and goods, as well as to support
Macao's better integration into the overall situation of the country's development, the Government of the Macao Special Administrative Region (Macao
SAR), after consulting with the People's Government of Guangdong Province and the People's Government of Zhuhai Municipality, proposed in August
2018 to take advantage of the opportunity arising from the renovation and expansion of the Hengqin Boundary Control Point (HBCP) in Zhuhai, and
relocate Macao's Lotus Control Point (LCP) to HBCP.

The new Hengqin Boundary Control Point and Integrated Transport Hub Development Project consists of the Inner Macao Passenger and Cargo Inspec-
tion and Clearance Facilities, a two-way three-dimensional transport hub, an integrated urban pipeline corridor and related ancillary buildings, bridges,
tunnels and transport terminals. The completion of the project has expedited the efficiency of customs clearance for people and goods travelling between
            the two places.
